Born Lucile Randon in France in 1904, Sister André is currently the oldest person in the world at 118, according to the Guinness Book of Records. She lives in a nursing home in Toulon in the south of France. As she has done for many years, she enjoys a glass of wine and some chocolate there every day. Sister André has gone blind in the meantime and sits in a wheelchair. Already at the age of twelve, during the First World War, she worked as a nanny, later as a home teacher. In 1944 she entered the order of the Vincentian Sisters in Paris.

Sister André is also the world's oldest person to have survived a covid infection. She tested positive for the virus shortly before her 117th birthday.
